2022 was a good year for cricketers. Some successful major ICC events took place, and record-breaking feats were achieved. Let’s take a look at the most centuries registered in each format in the year 2022.
Jonny Bairstow brought a positive change for England in tests and initiated the “Bazball” approach. He registered 6 tons this year in tests. Bairstow could have gotten a couple more, but his year ended on an abrupt note. He survived a freakish accident while skiing and injured his leg, which ruled him out of the field for the rest of the year. Further, former England captain, Joe Root gave up test captaincy after a grave debacle. Root’s batting performance, on the other hand, improved significantly, with him ranking second on the list of players with the most centuries in tests in 2022. Root scored 5 centuries this year. 3 Pakistani players featured in the list as well including the skipper, Babar Azam. Ravindra Jadeja is the only Indian to make it to the list.

For the centuries in ODIs in 2022, Ibrahim Zadran from Afghanistan, Pakistan skipper, Babar Azam, Sikandar Raza, and Shai hope to tie with 3 centuries each. Babar Azam has had a great year and is enjoying a dream run at the moment. He surpassed Joe Root to become the player with the most test runs scored. Moreover, India played fewer number of one-day internationals this year, and hence none featured in the top 10 list of most centuries scored in ODIs in 2022.

Further, a few players from associate teams also featured in the most centuries scored in T20s in 2022. Pakistan skipper, Babar Azam featured in all three lists as he registered a century in all three formats this year.
