India vs New Zealand 1st T20I: The Indian men are set to face New Zealand on Friday (January 27) at 7:30 PM (IST). It’s the first match of the three-match T20 International (T20I) series and will be played at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi.
India, earlier, won the three-match ODI series 3-0 against the visitors. The side, in T20I cricket too, has done an excellent job. The Indians previously, defeated New Zealand in the T20I series, away from home, in November 2022.
On the other hand, New Zealand will be looking to recover from their defeat in the IND vs NZ ODI series. The side will take the field under the leadership of Mitchell Santner, in absence of Kane Williamson, their regular skipper.
As India vs New Zealand 1st T20I contest is at the edge, here’s the pitch report and more from Ranchi.
It seems like a balanced pitch at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi to say and is better suited for batters. The pitch may resent the pacers, but spinners might change the game, with rough bounce on the wicket. Although, the dew is likely to play a huge role in favor of the batters, anyway. Based on the last five T20Is played at the venue, the average first innings score has been around 156 and the average total score has been around 133. Almost all of the toss winners opted to bowl first. And, 80% of the sides batting second won the games.
Until now, the JSCA International Stadium Complex has hosted three T20Is. It’s been a pretty easy task for the Indian team at Ranchi. The side has never lost a T20I at the venue and has three out of three, dominant victories in their account at the venue.
