During the toss, Indian captain Rohit Sharma mentioned that there is no change in the opening combination for this final Test match against Australia. This means that KL Rahul will be warming the bench for the second consecutive game. After below-par performances in the first two Test matches against the Aussies, the Indian team management took a brave decision to drop Rahul both from the playing 11 and the vice-captaincy role. The right-handed opening batsman had managed to score just 126 runs in his last 10 innings in the longer format of the game. On the other hand, Shubman Gill also failed to contribute much with the bat during the Indore Test match where his scores read 21 and 5 in the two innings.
