The important news development coming from the visiting Australian camp is that their premier opening batsman David Warner is still not part of the playing 11 for the India vs Australia 2nd ODI match being played at the Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam. Things did not worked out really well for the Aussie team recently as they ended up losing the first ODI encounter by a convincing margin of 5 wickets at the hands of India. After losing the Test series, Australia are again trailing 0-1 in this three-match ODI series.

After winning the toss and opting to bowl first, Australian captain Steve Smith noted that they have not changed their opening combination for this second ODI game against India. This also means that senior cricketer David Warner has not yet attained complete fitness after sustaining a fracture on his elbow during the second Test match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2023 in India. In his absence, the Aussie team management promoted Mitchell Marsh at the top of the order and he grabbed the opportunity with both hands. Marsh stamped his authority against the Indian bowling attack with a brilliant innings of 81 runs off 65 balls that included as many as 10 fours and 5 sixes.
