In a massive breaking news development, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni currently looks a doubtful starter for the opening game of Indian Premier League (IPL 2023) against defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) scheduled to begin on 31 March, 2023 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Things did not panned out in an ideal manner for the four-time champions, Chennai Super Kings, during the last edition of the IPL where they managed to win just 4 out of their 14 league stage matches. CSK finished at the ninth position on the points table in IPL 2022.
Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni is currently struggling with a niggle on his left knee and according to reports, he is not feeling comfortable while taking the field in the practice sessions. There is also a possibility that MS Dhoni might opt to sit out for a few matches at the start of IPL 2023 in order to be fully fit both as a batsman and wicket-keeper for the Chennai Super Kings. It has been reported that Dhoni, who is 41 years old, has been experiencing difficulties with his left knee in recent days. This was evident during the intra-squad practice match held at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Monday, as he was initially reluctant to take to the pitch and was observed sitting with a knee cap.
However, it will be really interesting to see who will lead the Chennai Super Kings in the absence of MS Dhoni. One of Ruturaj Gaikwad or Ravindra Jadeja will very much likely be names as the stand-in CSK captain. On the other, New Zealand’s opening batsman Devon Conway will have to take care of the wicket-keeping duties in GT vs CSK IPL 2023 match.
