The Mumbai Indians (MI) have registered a sensational 6-wicket victory over the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the 54th game of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2023) being played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Incidentally, MI have successfully chased down 200+run total for third successive match which is a record in the Indian Premier League history. With this incredible victory, the Mumbai Indians have reached the third spot on the points table in IPL 2023.
Who won Man of the Match in today’s IPL match?
For the Mumbai Indians, left-arm pacer Jason Behrendorff bowled an important spell in a high-scoring encounter where he took figures of 3 for 36. However, it was Suryakumar Yadav who once again completely changed the dynamics of the game throughout his remarkable 83-run knock as he smashed the RCB bowlers all around the park in a really destructive manner. Thus, Suryakumar was presented the Man of the Match award in today’s MI vs RCB match.
After losing the toss and being asked to bat first, the Royal Challengers Bangalore have finished with a challenging total of 199 for 6 in their 20 overs. Virat Kohli was dismissed cheaply in the opening over of the match but then RCB skipper Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell stitched an unbelievable partnership of 120 runs at a really quick pace. Maxwell contributed with a quick-fire knock of 68 runs off only 33 balls that included 8 fours and 4 sixes while Faf continued his amazing form here as well notching up a wonderful innings of 65 runs off 41 deliveries. However, after their dismissals, RCB managed to score just 47 runs in the last 5 overs. For the Mumbai Indians, Jason Behrendorff bowled really well having taken as many as three crucial wickets.
The Mumbai Indians once again started off really in the big run-chase as they smacked 62 runs in the first six overs of the powerplay courtesy Ishan Kishan’s fine cameo of 42 runs off just 21 balls. However, Suryakumar Yadav once again looked in a stunning touch as he played a terrific innings of 83 runs off only 35 deliveries that included 7 fours and 6 sixes which brought the run-chase to mere formalities. Nehal Wadhera also batted well having scored an unbeaten 52 runs off 34 balls as Mumbai Indians chased down 200 runs target with as many as 21 balls to spare.
