Bangladesh suffered a shocking collapse against Afghanistan in the first ODI. The hosts suffered a 17-run defeat via DLS method in Chattogram. Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bat first. Towhid Hridoy was the highest scorer for Bangladesh with his unbeaten 51 runs.
Afghanistan’s bowling attack put up an impressive display, with Fazalhaq Farooqi leading the way by taking three wickets. Both Mujeeb-ur-Rehman and Rashid Khan contributed with two wickets each, restricting Bangladesh’s scoring opportunities.
When it was Afghanistan’s turn to bat, they started strongly and built a solid foundation. However, their momentum was disrupted by rain, forcing the players off the field during the 22nd over with the score at 83/2. Due to persistent rain and unfavorable playing conditions, the match could not be resumed.
As per the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method, Afghanistan was declared the winner, maintaining their lead by 17 runs over Bangladesh at the time of interruption.
