Sri Lanka made their life easier by defeating Bangladesh by five wickets in their opening game. They did it with plenty of overs left and it boosted their NRR massively. The equation is simple for them – win this game and qualify for the Super 4. In fact, even if they could avoid a big loss, they are likely to advance to the Super 4.
On the other hand, the same cannot be said about Afghanistan. They lost their last game to Bangladesh by 89 runs. They have the worst NRR in Group B, and they will have to register a massive win to qualify for the Super 4. A simple win will not help Afghanistan’s cause as they will have to topple one of Sri Lanka or Bangladesh in terms of NRR.

It is a high-scoring venue with a flat surface. The batting in the first innings is going to be easier but the surface might break due to heat under the sun and spinners could come into play during the second innings. Hence, the team winning the toss is likely to bat first.
Last result at the venue
Bangladesh (334/5 in 50 overs) defeated Afghanistan (245/10 in 44.3 overs) by 89 runs.
Afghanistan are expected to play with the same playing XI.

Despite the injuries to their key players, Sri Lanka have managed to cope well and perform as a unit. They are managing to get out a few inspiring individual performances every game and that is one of the biggest reasons behind their success lately. Afghanistan, on the other hand, are searching for answers in both batting and bowling departments. They show a spark of brilliance here and there but have failed to seal the vital moments. As per our prediction, Sri Lanka should win this game.
