NZ Playing XI – The finalists of the 2019 World Cup will look to get over their heartbreak as they face the team that defeated them to kickstart their campaign in the 2023 World Cup. The Kiwis will face England in their opening game of the 2023 World Cup on Thursday, 5th October. The game will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad at 2:00 PM IST.
New Zealand have been one of the consistent sides in the ICC events as they have been a part of two finals in the last two editions of the ODI World Cups. However, they are still not considered favourites and they always enter the mega events as the dark horses.
The Kiwis had a horrible tour to England as they were completely outplayed by the home side England defeated them 3-1 in the four-match ODI series. However, New Zealand are boosted by the return of their skipper and batting mainstay Kane Willamson. Furthermore, the Kiwis are known to punch above their weight in the ICC events. Meanwhile, it will be interesting to see if the Blackcaps get third-time lucky after losing the last two finals.
