The stage is officially set for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, with all 20 participating nations now confirmed. The final spot was clinched by the United Arab Emirates (UAE), who defeated Japan by eight wickets in the Asia-East Asia Pacific (EAP) Qualifier held in Al Amerat. With this win, the UAE joined Nepal and Oman as the last three teams to qualify for the tournament, which will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka next year.
This edition will retain the same format as the 2024 World Cup held in the USA and West Indies, featuring four groups of five teams. The top two from each group will progress to the Super 8s, followed by semi-finals and the final.
A total of 10 teams earned direct qualification either by finishing in the top seven of the 2024 edition or through ICC T20I rankings.
These teams represent the core of global T20 cricket and are expected to be strong contenders in the 2026 edition. India and Sri Lanka qualified directly being the host nations.

Italy’s qualification marks a historic moment, as they will make their T20 World Cup debut, reflecting the sport’s expansion into non-traditional territories. Canada returns to the global stage, while Namibia and Zimbabwe continue to impress in African qualifiers. Zimbabwe, which missed out on the last edition, must be relieved now, making it to the big event.
The 2026 edition of the T20 World Cup will follow a familiar structure:
India and Sri Lanka, as co-hosts, are expected to provide spin-friendly pitches, passionate crowds, and high-octane match environments. With venues like Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Colombo, and Kandy likely to feature, fans can expect a blend of tradition and modern flair.
The confirmed lineup promises a thrilling mix of experience, emerging talent, and global representation. As preparations begin, fans worldwide can look forward to a tournament that celebrates the diversity and dynamism of T20 cricket.
