India women team has received a major blow ahead of the England series as star player Harmanpreet Kaur has been ruled out of the entire series due to an injury. The right-hand batter is a crucial member of India’s ODI team and is the skipper of the T20I team.
According to sources, the 29 year old Indian cricketer is suffering from a shoulder injury and hence has to miss the ODI and the T20I series against England. Sources state that she will likely go to Bangalore for further consultation on her injury.
The right-hand batter has featured in 93 ODIs and has scored 2244 runs at an average of 34.52. She has also slammed three hundreds and 11 half-centuries. Harmanpreet also bowls off-break at times and has claimed 22 wickets.
The hard-hitting Indian cricketer leads the Indian women’s team in the T20Is and has played 96 T20Is so far. she has scored 1910 runs at an average of 28.08 and is the first Indian women cricketer to score a hundred in a T20I game.
21 year old Harleen Deol might replace the right-hand cricketer for the England series. she was part of the Board President women’s XI team that played the practice game against England this week.
India is set to play three ODIs and three T20Is against England. The ODI series starts from 22nd February while the three T20Is will be played on 04th, 07th and 09th March.
In Harmanpreet’s absence, opening batter Smriti Mandhana will probably lead India in the T20I series against England.
