Bezuidenhout injured ahead of the first T20I

The New Zealand wicket-keeper received a fatal blow on her hand while batting in a practice session at Basin Reserve ahead of the first T20I.

New Zealand coach Haidee Tiffen stated that you never like to see players miss out due to injury and it’s no different in Bernie’s case but unfortunately it’s just part of the game.

She wished her a speedy recovery and she knows that Bezuidenhout will be doing everything in her power to get back on the park.

The right-hand batter fared poorly in the recent ODI series against India. She scored only 22 runs in two games and took two catches behind the stumps.

The 25 year old New Zealand cricketer has played 16 T20Is so far and has scored 103 runs at an average of 10.30. She has also featured in 11 ODIs for New Zealand and has scored 94 runs at an average of 13.42

Anna Peterson roped in the NZ squad

The New Zealand team management has added all-rounder Anna Peterson in the squad as a replacement for the injured wicket-keeper.

Peterson performed well in the last two ODIs against India and was infact the player of the match for the third ODI.

Tiffen noted that Anna joins the side and brings with her experience as well as an option with both the bat and ball. Tiffen feels that Anna will slot right in having already been with the squad for the ODI campaign.
