Two sides who made this far riding on terrific form of two players, face each other in the absence of those players. And at the stake is a place in IPL 2019’s second qualifier. David Warner’s batting blitz keptĀ  SRH strong in IPL season 12 while it was Kagiso Rabada’s sensational pace bowling that allowed Delhi to dismantle opponents.

But with both of them gone, it will be interesting to see how these teams cope up at the most challenging phase of IPL, the play-offs.

Form guide:

Manish Pandey has scored runs in the last few games and Kane Williamson too had a good game. This will please SRH management but they need their number five and six to step up. The bowling though is in good hands with Rashid, Khaleel and Bhuvi making strong statements.

The trio of Dhawan, Iyer and Pant has done a commendable job but so far the trouble for Delhi is the lack of runs from their overseas batsmen. However the biggest challenge for them right now is to balance the bowling attack in Rabada’s absence.

Ishant Sharma has been impressive in the Powerplays and the spin department has done well too but Trent Boult hasn’t looked at his best so far.

Key Numbers:

  • SRH has dominated DC in head to head battles. SRH have won nine while DC has won only five games. SRH’s dominance has been severe in the recent times as the franchise has won four of the last six encounters against Delhi.

  • Shikhar Dhawan is the leading run-scorer in the matches played between SRH and DC with 376 runs.

Players in focus:

Khaleel Ahmed has played just eight games in IPL season 12 but he has quickly emerged as SRH’s highest wicket-taker with 17 wickets. His strike-rate of 11.2 has been impressive and it will be interesting to see how he fares against the top four Indian batsmen of Delhi.
