Former India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar feels that MS Dhoni’s batting is clearly a problem and he insisted the team management to start searching for options to replace him.
The Indian wicket-keeper has come under scrutiny after his below par performance in the Asia Cup. And Manjrekar feels that he is no more the old finisher who was known for his batting prowess.

While speaking with an online cricket portal the former Indian cricketer said that at this stage Maahi is not the world-beater that he was and asked everyone to tone down their expectations from Dhoni the batsman.
According to Manjrekar, in the Asia Cup final the right-hand batsman should not have come ahead of Kedar Jadhav as Manjrekar feels Kedar is an in-form batsman, a pure batsman. Manjrekar believes the Indian wicket-keeper should just bat down the order.
Manjrekar still believes Dhoni is a good keeper
At the same time, Manjrekar hailed Dhoni’s wicket-keeping abilities. He stated that the former Indian skipper is a good keeper, stumping everything that comes his way. He also noted that Virat Kohli needs a person around him – a man with all the experience. However the former India cricketer reminded everyone that his batting is clearly a problem.
He further added that if India have an exciting option to replace the right-hand batsman then they should start looking at it.
The legendary Indian cricketer scored 0, 36, 8, and 33 runs in four innings in Asia Cup and on two occasions he failed to finish the innings which in uncommon with the legendary Indian batsman.
Dhoni’s last fifty-plus score in ODIs was in December 2017 when he scored 65 runs against Sri Lanka at Dharamshala. Since then the Indian wicket-keeper has failed to reach half-century in eleven innings.
