Indian cricketers benefited immensely from the historic win against Australia at Melbourne in the third Test. Captain Virat Kohli has retained his top spot while Mohammad Shami and Rishabh Pant moved ahead in the rankings. But the biggest gainer was pacer Jasprit Bumrah who leapfrogged 12 places and finished the year at the career-best 16th position.

Bumrah jumps to 16th place

Before the start of the third Test, Bumrah was at 28th place. The pacer bowled a sensational spell in the third Test and finished with nine wickets. He claimed six wickets in the first innings which earned India a lead of 293 runs and effectively sealed the win.
