The ongoing fourth Test match between England and India has been at a high level. The competition between bat and ball so far has been enthralling and the two teams so far have matched each other blow for blow. After being bowled for 191 runs and conceding a lead of 99 runs, Team India displayed batting of the highest class to take a lead of more than 150 runs on Day 3.

KL Rahul fined for breaching ICC Code of conduct in second innings

The Indian opener KL Rahul has been in top-notch form in the ongoing series. The right-handed batsman along with Rohit Sharma has been providing the Indian team with great starts at the top of the order. In the ongoing fourth Test match, KL Rahul in the second inning looked comfortable and scored 46 runs but invited trouble to his name after nicking one-off James Anderson.

It was during the 34th over of the innings, Rahul edged a delivery from Anderson, the original decision was not out but the decision was overturned after English skipper Joe Root opted to take DRS. After he was given out, the right-handed batsman was utterly disappointed as he felt that bat hit the back pad but the ultra edge clearly showed that the batsman has nicked the ball.

In the latest development, it is learned that KL Rahul has been fined 15 per cent of his match fee for showing dissent at the third umpire after his wicket at The Oval. As per the Article 2.8 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which reads with “showing dissent at an umpire’s decision during an international match.” Apart from this one demerit point has also been added to Rahul’s disciplinary record.

IND vs ENG: India takes a lead of 171 runs at stumps on Day 3 

Resuming the innings on an overnight score of 43/0, Indian openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul looked solid and once again took their team off the flyer scoring 83 runs for the opening partnership until James Anderson sent Rahul packing for 46 runs with a peach of a delivery. Cheteshwar Pujara and Rohit Sharma then carried the Indian ship forward and scored runs all around the ground and helped India take the lead of more the 150 runs.

The duo stitched 153 runs partnership however both succumbed to a new ball for the scores of 127 (Sharma) and 61 (Pujara). After that Indian skipper, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja joined the hands together notched up unbeaten 33 runs and take India’s lead past 170 runs until bad light forced umpires to take early stumps on Day 3.
