What’s the story?

India’s squad for the next month Asia Cup has been announced by the selectors today. After a two-month-long mentally gruelling tour of England, India’s all-format skipper Virat Kohli has been rested with vice-captain Rohit Sharma to lead the side.

Ambati Rayudu, who cleared his yo-yo test before participating for the India A Quadrangular series while Manish Pandey, who had a stellar time within the Quadrangular series has regained his spot in the ODI set-up after being dropped for the tour of England.

Kedar Jadhav, who has now recovered from the hamstring injury that has kept him out from the 2018 IPL also makes his return to the side while Suresh Raina, after a disastrous ODI tour in England has been dropped.

On the bowling front, fit-again Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah have been included in the side while Khaleel Ahmed, the 20-year-old pacer from Rajasthan has received his maiden call-up to the squad.
