India vs England, 3rd Test live: Even after securing a 1-0 lead in the five-match Test series, Team India were absolutely thrashed on the opening day of the third Test against England. After winning the toss and choosing to bat first, the visitors bundled out for a paltry total of 78 runs in the first innings. India’s problems worsened further when the England openers, Rory Burns and Haseeb Hameed came out unbeaten at stumps on Day 1 with an opening partnership of 120 runs.

The Indian bowlers desperately had to step up with their performance to help their team make a comeback in the Test match. India pacer Mohammed Shami picked up the opening breakthrough in the form of Rory Burns’ wicket as the left-hander got out after scoring 61 runs. However, the highlight moment of the first session of Day 2 at the Headingley was Ravindra Jadeja knocking over Haseeb Hameed with a lovely delivery. This was the first wicket of the series so far for the Indian left-arm spinner.

England opener Haseeb Hameed still played a wonderful innings of 68 runs off 195 deliveries that included a total of 12 boundaries. For the first time since 2016, England openers added a total of 135 runs for the first wicket stand.

England are placed at 182 for 2  with skipper Joe Root and Dawid Malan unbeaten at the crease after the opening session on Day 2 of the third Test against India. While playing his first Test match since 2018, Malan has looked in a fine touch so far batting on an unbeaten 27 runs and the England skipper has already scored more than 300 runs in this series, thus, the home team are in a good position. England are currently leading India by 104 runs and if the visitors don’t pick wickets in quick succession during the second session, their worries are bound to increase.
