India vs England, 5th Test CANCELLED ? Here’s the official update

The five-Test series between England and India so far has been at its enthralling best. The series has been at its exciting best as both the teams have match blow for blow but the Virat Kohli-led side are slightly ahead of the hosts as they are leading the series by a margin of 2-1. However, with the COVID-19 scare in the Indian contingent, the series between the nations has ended disappointingly.

Fifth Test match between England and India cancelled 

After all the Indian players returned negative COVID-19 results on the evening of the fifth Test match, the final match of the series got a green signal and was all set to be played on the scheduled date.

However, in the latest development, it is learned that the fifth Test match between England and India at Emirates Old Trafford has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 scare in the Indian camp.

England and Wales Cricket Board released an official statement and confirmed about the development.

Following ongoing conversations with the BCCI, the ECB can confirm that the fifth LV= Insurance Test between England and India Men due to start today at Emirates Old Trafford, will be cancelled. Due to fears of a further increase in the number of COVID cases inside the camp, India are regrettably unable to field a team.  ECB stated.

India vs England: What will be the result of the series? 

The fifth Test of the series between England and India was originally slated to begin on 10th September at Emirates Old Trafford. However with Indian physio Yogesh Parmar returning COVID-19 positive Test, there were lot of tension flaring up in the Indian side which in the end led to the final match of the series being called off.

With the last match of the series between the cricketing heavyweights being called off, there’s no official confirmation about the result of the series. As of now, the five-Test series between England and India stands at 1-2 with the Virat Kohli-led side in lead. However, the official confirmation regarding the result of the series will be announced soon.
