Virat Kohli made a comeback in India’s national team and in his very first innings he slammed a hundred to continue his journey of breaking records. The Indian skipper produced his 24th hundred to take India to a mammoth score against Wes Indies at Rajkot. And in the process broke several records.
Kohli fastest after Bradman to 24 centuries
The Indian captain became the fastest batsman after Sir Don Bradman to reach 24centures. Kohli achieved this feat in his 123rd Test innings while it took only 62 innings for the legendary Aussie to slam 24 hundreds. Tendulkar reached this milestone in 125 innings and Sunil Gavaskar in 128 innings.
He also surpassed Virender Sehwag in the list of most centuries by an Indian. Kohli is in elite company now as he is only behind Sachin Tendulkar (51), Rahul Dravid (36) and Sunil Gavaskar (34).

Kohli’s run making has become even more prolific since he became the captain of Team India. He has scored 30 centuries in 134 innings as the skipper. He is third in the list of most centuries by a Test captain, behind Ricky Ponting (41 centuries in 225 innings) and Graeme Smith (33 centuries in 333 innings).
Kohli the fastest to get 20 hundreds at number four
The number four position has been a favorite of several great cricketers including Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara, Jacques, and Mahela Jayawardene. Kohli has now joined these greats as he now has 20 centuries while batting at number four.
And in fact, he is the fastest among all to get 20 hundreds at this position. The Indian cricketer achieved this feat in his 82nd innings while Kallis reached this feat in 91 innings.
Kohli now has more than 1000 runs in Test cricket in 2018 and this is the third consecutive year he has amassed 1000 Test runs in a calendar year. He is the first Indian to score 1000 runs in three consecutive years and the sixth overall in world cricket.
