Indian skipper Virat Kohli wants young opener Prithvi Shaw to be given some space to grow in his own abilities and has asked not to compare him with anyone.
He can repeat what he did in the first game feels Kohli
While speaking with the media ahead of the second Test, the Indian skipper said that Shaw should not be rushed into anything. He admitted that the teenage batsman is supremely talented and he has got great ability.
Kohli stated that the team definitely thinks Shaw has it in him to play at the highest level and he can repeat what he did in the first game. The Indian captain observed that Shaw is a very keen learner, a sharp guy and he understands situations well.
Kohli admits role of IPL in grooming young players
When asked about the role of IPL in offering exposure to youngsters, Kohli admitted that it could be one of the reasons because he feels that the players are already exposed to the environment that the international game would replicate.
However the right-hand batsman also made it clear that there’s always pressure of playing for the country. He explained that when you get that cap in the morning of the game, there’s always butterflies in the stomach and he is sure that everyone feels that pressure.
Players are not nervous anymore at the big stage: Kohli
Kohli agreed that the players these days have played in situations in the IPL where they play in front of so many people that they are not nervous anymore at the big stage.
The Indian skipper feels that the players are not overawed by the scenario and its always an advantage because the guys coming in can start doing the job from game one.
