“Team that plays better on the field is a bigger team”
India’s opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan has warned his team-mates not to take Bangladesh lightly as Bangladesh got the better of Pakistan which is a bigger name. The left-hand batsman added that there is a big difference between a team on paper and players playing on the ground.
Dhawan was speaking with the media ahead of the finals when he appreciated Bangladesh for their rise in world cricket. He noted that the team which plays better on the field, they are regarded as the bigger team and hence the India opener is not ready to take Bangladesh lightly.
Bangladesh defeated Pakistan by 37 runs in the virtual semi-final to book a place in the finals of the Asia Cup. Earlier in the tournament, they defeated Sri Lanka and Afghanistan as well.
Bangladesh play good consistent cricket: Dhawan
The left-hand batsman was full of praise for Bangladesh. He noted that Bangladesh have a good support staff and they play good consistent cricket.
He further added that they have got many experienced players in the side who know their role and play according to the strategy. Dhawan also explained that Bangladesh players know how to play under pressure and they no longer have problems playing against the big teams.
Bangladesh will soon cross the line feels Dhawan
Bangladesh has reached the finals of the Asia Cup twice before but have never won the trophy. When asked about it, Dhawan said that Bangladesh has been playing cricket only for 18 years and it takes time to win finals.
He added that sometimes it takes teams so much time to even reach the final. He also stated that although he would want India to win the match tomorrow he believes we will see Bangladesh crossing the line soon, as far as winning titles is concerned.
