PAK pacer fit for second Test vs SA

Pakistan have got a big boost ahead of the second Test against South Africa. Pace bowler Mohammad Abbas has been declared fit and will be back in the team for the Cape Town Test starting from January 03rd.

 

 Abbas to strengthen Pakistan’s pace bowling unit

Since his debut in 2017, Abbas has become an essential part of Pakistan’s red ball team. His return will boost Pakistan’s pace bowling artillery which currently comprises of Mohammad Amir, Hasan Ali, Shaheen Afridi, and Faheen Ashraf.

Abbas injured his shoulder during the match against New Zealand and took some time to recover.

At the same time, Harris Sohail is expected to make a comeback to the team if he passes the fitness test.

 

Abbas ranked number 4 in Test rankings

According to the latest ICC rankings for Test bowlers, the Pakistani pacer is at number four with 821 points.

The right arm pace bowler has featured in only 12 Tests so far and has made serious impact. In 23 innings, so far he has claimed 61 wickets. The most staggering aspect of his bowling is his average of just 16.62. He has also claimed a five-wicket hail four times in his Test career so far.

South Africa lead the series 1-0

The hosts registered a thumping win in the first Test to take a 1-0 lead in the Test series. Courtesy of pacer Duanne Olivier’s stunning bowling performance and then Hashim Amla’s composed and responsible half-century in the fourth innings, the hosts defeated Pakistan by six wickets in the Centurion Test.
