The banter has been the highlight of the second test match between Australia and India at Perth. Indian Captain and his Aussie counterpart have been seen exchanging words and on one instance, the umpire Gaffney had to step in to cool things down between the two.

Lyon began proceedings on Day 5

After a heated day four in Perth, Australia came out confident to wrap things up on Tuesday morning. They only had the last recognisable pair of Vihari and Pant to rid of before the long Indian tail.

It was Nathan Lyon who started the sledge affair on Day 5. The off-spinner finished his over and while he was walking past Indian batsman Hanuma Vihari, he had something to say.

“Where are you going for your Christmas holiday? I hear Hamilton Island is a nice place,” –
Lyon said to Vihari

The comment was made in reference to Vihari being selected in the test match as a cover for the injured Rohit Sharma, and he would not be a part of India’s XI for Boxing Day Test.

Watch: Kohli and Paine have a go at each other

Australia level the series 1-1

Australia did not take long on day 5 to record their first win since Durban earlier this year. Indian batting fell apart like a pack of cards on Tuesday morning without offering much resistance and were bowled out 140 in the second innings, falling short by 146 runs. The series is level at 1-1 with two more tests to go.

Virat Kohli: As a team I think we played well in patches which we can hold onto. Australia played much better than us with the bat. 330 on that pitch we felt was a bit too much. They deserved to win.

Tim Paine: It’s probably more a relief at the moment, first Test win has taken a while. Good to get a little bit of reward. It was as difficult Test, both have been tough Tests. Two really competitive sides.
