Sri Lanka lost by an innings and 40 runs in Brisbane. With squad marred by injuries, the visitors have copped a big blow in a bid to level the series in Canberra.
Australia, recently losing a Test series to India for the first time on home soil, would be looking to put weakened Sri Lankan side under pressure and aim for the 2-0 win.
Sri Lanka recently lost a series 3-0 against New Zealand. They now face the unpleasant prospect of being swept in the second Test series on the bounce.
The second and final test of the series begins on February 1.
Australia coach Justin “It’s always nice to go with the same eleven back-to-back, and without putting any words in the other selectors’ mouths at the moment, it would be nice to keep some continuity.”
