Indian spin bowler Ravichandran Ashwin has said that he is learning several variations to stay in the competition in international cricket. The spinner claimed that he has started bowling the leg-cutter, the slow carom ball and other deliveries as well.

The Indian off-spinner opened up about his bowling in an interview with an online cricket portal. While speaking about his variations he said that he has started bowling the leg-break, hasĀ  started bowling the slow carrom ball. And an under-cutter, which he learnt from Mujeeb.

According to Ashwin, the reverse under-cutter works really well in a T20 game and he has learnt it from the Afghanistan spinner Mujeeb-Ur-Rahman. Rahman and Ashwin play for the Kings XI Punjab franchise in IPL.

Competition is the healthiest thing: Ashwin

When asked about the stiff competition for the spot of spinner in Indian team, the off-spinner said that competition is the healthiest thing.

He also asked how many teams in the world actually have the luxury of sitting spinners of Jaddu and his quality outside?

He added that you need to applaud Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal for having taken their chances with both hands. Ashwin made it clear that for him itā€™s all about standing behind the door and waiting for the opportunity. He added that when the opportunity presents itself, he has to be ready to take it.

Ashwin pleased with his bowling in England

Ashwin also threw light on his performance in the England Test series. He said that overall, he thought his bowling in England was very pleasing for him. He admitted that he wonā€™t be really harsh on himself. He feels that he did bowl really well and his injury did let me down, it was quite frustrating.
