Here’s how Twitter reacted to Dhoni’s return as captain

Dhoni is leading India for the 200th time after the team management decided to rest skipper Rohit Sharma and his deputy Shikhar Dhawan.

India have played four fixtures so far in the Asia Cup 2018 and they have remained unbeaten thus far. They have already sealed a berth in the finals and they are playing Afghanistan in their last match of Super Four in Dubai International Stadium, Dubai.

Since India sit in a comfortable position, they opted to go for a bold rejig by making five changes to their playing XI. Deepak Chahar made his ODI debut, while KL Rahul who scored a morale-lifting century in the last Test against England also got a chance.

Manish Pandey is also all set to feature for the first time in this tournament in this match against Afghanistan.

India also decided to rest their premier bowlers Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar and make way for Siddarth Kaul and K Khaleel Ahmed.

Meanwhile, Twitter rejoiced as they got to see team India’s old in charge take charge after 696 days:

Afghanistan opt to bat after winning the toss

While talking after the toss, Dhoni spoke about the changes and explained that team management believed that everyone should have got a chance.

He said, “They are part of the Indian squad and they are representing India.” He added that the young bowlers who have been given this opportunity should capitalize on it and quickly adjust to the line and length.

Expressing his feeling about captaining India for the 200th time, Dhoni said, “I have captained in 199 ODIs, this opportunity has completed my 200. It’s all destiny and I believe in it. It is not in my control, once I left captainship. It is good to complete 200, but I don’t think it really matters.”
