Virat Kohli in big trouble: India captain Virat Kohli will next be in action during the upcoming five-match Test series against England starting from 4 August. However, according to the latest developments, Virat might have to face some troubles for his recent post on social media on Lovely Professional University (LPU) in Punjab.

Just a few days back, Virat Kohli wrote a post on social media highlighting the fact that many of the athletes performing in the ongoing Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 are students of Lovely Professional University. It has now been understood that Ad regulator Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) has mentioned that they will write to Kohli regarding his social media post. In an interesting fact, the Indian captain has a massive following of 228 million fans across various social media handles.


 

“What a record, 10% of Indian Olympians are from Lovely Professional University. I hope LPU will send students to the Indian cricket team also! Jai Hind,” read Virat Kohli’s post on Instagram.

The Indian captain’s post looked like a promotional campaign and moreover, it was not having any disclosures required by ASCI’s newly launched influencer guidelines.

“It is critical so that it doesn’t set a bad precedence. I’ve reached out to ASCI and they said they are taking it up suo moto on their own. All other influencers and the agencies are keenly looking forward to what ASCI will do in this case or how the penalty will be imposed if there’s a penalty at all as it will set a new direction. This is the first time the rules are being implemented, we do not know how much power does ASCI has but it has to be vocal,” said Karthik Srinivasan, communications strategy consultant on the matter.

ENG vs IND Schedule

The first of the five England vs India Test matches will be played between 4-8 August in Nottingham while the second Test match will start from 12 August at the Lord’s. The third Test match will begin from 25 August at the Headingley in Leeds and the fourth Test is scheduled from 2 September at the Kennington Oval in London. The fifth and final Test match of the series will start from 10 September at the Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester.
