Runs were scored in plenty in the first ODI between India against Windies as three batsmen scored centuries. From both teams, only two bowlers managed to have an economy rate below six runs. Yuzvendra Chahal gave away just 46 runs in his ten overs and picked two wickets. The leg-spinner revealed the strategy behind his success after the game got over.
Windies batsmen are strong: Chahal
The Indian leg-spinner said that Windies batsmen are strong guys, so he needed to bowl slower in the air. He explained that it is different when the ball spins and he feels that on this wicket, they needed to vary their pace, had to guess what the batsman is doing and bowl according to that. Chahal also said the that the batsmen were looking to hit only sixes when he came to bowl and hence he didn’t bowl fuller deliveries.
Kuldeep, Jadeja and I make a good trio: Chahal
When asked about the experience of bowling with Ravindra Jadeja, the leg-spinner pointed out that he has played with Jaddu bhai in the Asia Cup, and he told him that he could bowl slower on this wicket. He also revealed that they both always talk with each other and even with Kuldeep Yadav they make a good trio.
Chahal felt like Rohit and Kohli were playing PS4
The target of 323 runs proved to be a cakewalk for Team India as the duo of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli stitched a partnership of 246 runs. Kohli smashed 140 runs off just 107 balls while Sharma remained not out on 152 runs off 117 balls.
Speaking about the batting of Rohit and Kohli, the leg-spinner said that he enjoys watching them bat, and he feels that they are two legends of the game. He also added that at times they feel as if Rohit and Kohli are playing PS4.
