Windies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo has bid farewell to International cricket. However, he will continue to play franchise T20 cricket.

Bravo said in his retirement note, “I want to conform to the cricket world that I have officially retired from all forms of international cricket. I made my debut for West Indies 14 years ago, and I still remember clearly the moment when I received that maroon cap before walking onto the Lord’s Cricket Ground against England in 2004. I felt a certain enthusiasm and passion back then, and I have kept it with me throughout my international career.”

However I would also accept the fact that for preserving longevity as a professional cricketer, I must leave the international arena for the next generation of players,” he added.

Bravo last played for Windies in September in 2016 against Pakistan, and he has featured in 270 internationals, and he had also played a pivotal role in the Windies’ WT20 triumphs in 2012 and 2016.

In 40 Test matches, Bravo has amassed 2200 runs and has taken 86 scalps.  In the limited overs format, he has scored 2968 runs and has 199 wickets to his name. In T20 Internationals he has scored 1142 runs and has claimed 52 wickets.

The 35-year old played his last test in 2010 but gradually he etched his name in the cricket history as a T20 specialist. His last One Day International was in 2014 when West Indies flew back home after playing the fourth ODI to protest against their board, cutting their tour short.

Will continue my professional career as a cricketer and an entertainer: Bravo

I thank the countless people who were an inseparable part of my journey, especially my family and QPCC where I honed my skills at an early age,” Bravo said.

I thank all my fans who continue to support my journey and who recognise my efforts on and off the field. I am extremely grateful to have a career that provided me with an opportunity to travel across the globe and share prestigious dressing rooms with the new legends of the game. I will continue my journey as a cricketer and entertainer living like a true champion.”
