Young Indian pace bowler Khaleel Ahmed has revealed the role of former India bowler Zaheer Khan in his development. Khaleel said that Zaheer made him a mature bowler and offered valuable tips. He also said that his seniors and the team members have supported him in his journey.
The young left-arm bowler said that he was working with Zaheer bhai for two years when he was with the Delhi Daredevils in the Indian Premier League. He also stated that Zaheer was always there with his two cents as in the IPL they play in different cities and different type of pitches and bowl to various batsmen. Hence the young pace bowler feels that Zaheer has made him a lot mature as a bowler.
When asked about his plans for the Windies series, Khaleel said that the bowling unit is performing well so the plan is to take the confidence forward. He also noted that he is viewing this series as a part of his preparation to play the World Cup.
He pointed out that there are still some ODIs left before the World Cup, so his aim is to make the most of those matches. Khaleel feels that the more wickets he takes, the more confident he will be. He also believes that if he makes it to the World Cup, then having wickets behind him will help him cope better with pressure.
While speaking about his strengths, the left-arm bowler said that bowling fast is his strength and he thinks his left-arm pace can be beneficial for India. He feels that his pace and the extra bounce that he can extract can be a reason behind the selectors showing their faith in him.
Khaleel will be seen in action in the ODI series against Windies which begins from October 21.
