ENG VS AUS PREDICTION: Who will win?

The arch-rivals England will take on Australia in a 3 match ODI series starting on 11th September. This will be the first time these two teams will be locking horns with each other in the 50 over format, ever since Australia’s humiliating defeat against the hosts in the 2019 ICC World Cup. England who is high on confidence will start as hot favourites for this mouth-watering clash. They are coming off a 2-1 victory over the visitors in the T20I series and will be hoping to continue the same form, for the remainder of the limited-overs series. Australia on the other hand has been pretty inconsistent in the 50 over format in recent years and will be hoping to change things over, considering the ICC cricket world Cup super league in progress. Due to the newly proposed super league, the otherwise irrelevant bilateral series holds higher prominence for the world cup qualification. That being said, a full-strength England squad still holds an edge over the visitors and it would be wise to invest in them for online cricket betting.

England to win the match

  • England has a well-balanced line-up, depth in both batting and bowling departments.
  • The return of Jason Roy will strengthen the top order, he is expected to go all-guns-blazing as per today match prediction.
  • The confidence of winnings the T20I series will help them have a mental advantage over the Aussies.

ENG VS AUS MATCH PREDICTION

England has assembled a similar squad to what they lined up for the victorious 2019 World Cup campaign. With 11 of the 14 members from the World Cup squad in place, England has a mental advantage over the visitors. Except for the absence of Stokes, the batting line-up is expected to be the same. With the return of Jason Roy, the opening combination for the hosts looks deadly. He along with Jonny Bairstow will be leading the havoc at the top of the order. Joe Root also returns to the squad after a successful T20 stint with Yorkshire. He will be followed by Morgan, Ali, and Buttler thereby completing a solid batting line-up. Morgan is expected to come back after the finger injury and will be taking over the reign from Moeen Ali.

Aussies on the other hand will be hoping to get their revenge on the hosts, after a disastrous T20I series. They too have a balanced squad. David Warner will pair up with captain Finch at the top of the order and Marnus Labuschagne, who performed really well in the intra-squad practice match is expected to partner Steve Smith in the middle order. With Maxwell, Marsh, and Carrey to follow they, Australia have a very balanced top seven. Wicket Keeper Alex Carrey is expected to keep his place after getting dropped for the 3rd T20I. That followed by a highly potent bowling attack consisting of Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Adam Zampa makes them a very competitive side.

ENG vs AUS Toss Prediction and Pitch Report

Overcast weather is forecasted. Traditionally the wickets in Old Trafford produced a belter of a wicket, which was ideal for batting and fast bowling. But if what Morgan said is to be believed this pitch looks to be a little bit on the slower side and hence the match is less likely to be a high scoring encounter. That being said considering the makeup of the teams, any score less than 300 may not pose a serious threat to the team batting second. Win the toss and field first will be the mantra for both captains.

Pat Cummins

The leader of Australia’s pace attack, Pat Cummins is a much better bowler as the format gets longer. His ability to bowl consistently in the right areas along with the variations in is armoury makes him a serious threat to the opposition.

Adam Zampa
