Team India, along with fellow Asian cricket nations Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh, has been handed a direct entry into the upcoming Asian Games 2026 quarter-finals. The 20th edition of the games will take place in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, commencing on 19 September and concluding on 4 October.
The decision was made courtesy of the ICC International T20 rankings, giving the top four seeded Asian nations a shorter, more direct path to the medal rounds while skipping the opening preliminary matches.
The men’s cricket competition is slated to run from September 24 to October 1 in Nagoya and will witness Team India entering as the reigning champions. India won the 2022 edition of the Asian Games held in Hangzhou by defeating Afghanistan in the final, whereas Bangladesh claimed the bronze medal, defeating Pakistan.
