Damien Martyn, a former Western Australian cricketer, made batting seem easy. Martyn was an old-school batter who could grind for runs as well as up the ante in ODI cricket. One of the highlights of his career was his 88-run knock in the 2003 World Cup final. He batted with a fractured finger to help Australia post a huge total of 359, putting the game out of reach for India. He also had a fantastic 13-month stretch in which he racked up 1608 Test runs at an average of 61. However, he was always under the shadow of superstars like as Ricky Ponting, Matthew Hayden, and Adam Gilchrist.
