Aaron Finch is still hopeful of playing Tests for Australia

Australian T20I skipper Aaron Finch broke his own record on Tuesday.

Finch has more international runs than any other batsman without having donned the whites.

After having scored 156 against England back in 2013, the highest score in T20Is that stood until yesterday, it was another innings that left people in awe.

“Just one of those days where a few things went my way,” Finch stated after his record-breaking knock as Australia accumulated 229 of their 20 overs.”

“The wicket played a lot better than we thought. Good to get a few out of the middle and break a record. Any time you have a day like this, you need to reflect on it. These might not happen often, so it’s special,” he added.

But that wasn’t the only record that Finch holds now, among a number of others after Australia’s 100-run rout of Zimbabwe once they limited the hosts to 129 for nine.

No other player now has extra world runs below his belt with no need performed a Test than Finch, with the burly right-hander having scored 4891 runs in 132 suits for Australia in limited-overs, going forward of Ireland’s William Porterfield, who had scored 4763 runs ahead of Ireland’s maiden Test in opposition to Pakistan in May.

“I’ve got myself to blame for that,” Finch said. “When I used to be more youthful I had a possibility to truly push my case for a couple of years. I had most definitely 18 to 24 months of truly lean four-day or any red-ball cricket to be fair.

“I used to be taking part in just right white-ball cricket for Australia and could not get the runs at the board in red-ball cricket. I have begun to build up my red-ball sport once more and I believe much more comfy now,” he said. “I have begun to play my herbal sport, ultra-aggressive whether or not I am taking part in Australia or England.

“The plan is to get over there after hopefully winning this series and really get over there and try and pile on as many runs as possible,” he added.

The ICC applauded the batsmen and said, “World record score for Aaron Finch! And it’s the first 200-run partnership in T20I cricket! The Australia openers are creating history!”
