Former South Africa cricketer AB de Villiers has named his top four teams for the ICC 2019 ODI World Cup and interestingly this list doesn’t include South Africa. The former middle-order batsman feels India, England, Pakistan and Australia are the top four teams for this tournament.

World Cup tournaments never easy: de Villiers

AB de Villiers stated that the World Cup is a tough tournament and he has played in three of them and it’s never easy.

He explained that you always feel like you’ve got a good squad, but once the tournament starts you very quickly understand that there are a lot of teams that are there to win it and have the ability to do so.

AB de Villiers names his favourites for World Cup

He believes that South Africa have a chance, like they did at any other World Cup, because they are a world-class team with plenty of match-winners. He feels the Proteas are certainly in the running, but he doesn’t want to say they are the favourites to be honest.

The former South Africa skipper noted that India and England are looking strong, Australia have won five World Cups in the past and Pakistan claimed the Champions Trophy in the UK two years ago. So for him, those four teams are probably the favourites.

ABD praises Kohli

Virat
BCCI

ABD was full of praise for Kohli. He feels that Virat’s performances over the last while have been incredible and he can’t see it stopping very soon. He pointed out that he has played with Kohli for eight years now in the IPL and you can never take the class out of the guy.

However he made it clear that Kohli is human after all and, like any other cricketer, he will go through patches from time to time where he has to go back to the basics and work his way through it again.

He believes it’s Kohli’s personality and mental strength that gets him through those moments and makes him the best ODI player in the world at the moment.

He admitted that he sees a lot of similarities between him and Virat and they are both fighters and don’t enjoy losing, love batting together and taking the game away from teams.
