AB de Villiers retirement: Even after announcing his retirement way back in 2018, South Africa’s former cricketer AB de Villiers is surely one of the most talked players in world cricket and the cricket fanatics desperately want him to make a comeback. However, in a massive recent development, Cricket South Africa (CSA) have reportedly released an official statement noting that AB de Villiers’ decision to retire from international cricket across formats remains final and the discussions have been concluded.

According to the recent sources, following discussion between the board and AB de Villiers, CSA have released an official statement mentioning that the swashbuckling South African will not be coming out of retirement and his international cricket retirement stands final. Earlier, CSA Director of Cricket Graeme Smith had hinted of de Villiers comeback for the upcoming T20I series against West Indies scheduled in June. However, none of the trio of AB de Villiers, Imran Tahir or Chris Morris have been included in the South Africa T20 squad for the Windies tour.

“Discussions with AB de Villiers have concluded with the batsman deciding once and for all, that his retirement will remain final,” said CSA in a statement.

Therefore, the unfortunate news for all the fans is that AB de Villiers will not be making a comeback to international cricket. West Indies are scheduled to host South Africa next month for 2 Tests and 5 T20Is. CSA have announced a new Test captain in Dean Elgar who will be taking over from Quinton de Kock in his first-ever captaincy assignment which will be the upcoming two-match Test series against the Windies. Temba Bavuma will be leading the national team in the limited-overs formats. South Africa are also scheduled to play 3 ODIs and as many T20Is against Ireland starting from July 11.
