Asia Cup 2022 is looked as one of the most competitive multi-nation tournaments this year. India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and other Asian nations get to prove their mettle at the big stage.

In, all 14 editions so far have taken place, in which seven have belonged to India whereas Sri Lanka has won 5 cups with 2 in the name of Pakistan.

The first edition of Asia Cup was hosted in UAE, and it was none other than Team India who emerged victorious. The ‘Men in Blue’ defeated Sri Lanka in the final. The Island nation then took no time to stake their win and won the second edition in 1986, where they ponded Pakistan to clinch the title at their home.

The next three editions of the Asia Cup in 1988, 1990/91 and 1995, which took place in Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and UAE respectively was clinched by Indian cricket team. They defeated Sri Lanka on all three occasions by beating them by 7 wickets in 1990/91 and then 8 wickets in 1995. 

Sri Lanka then took the revenge in 1997 Asia Cup when they defeated India in their home to bag their second title. Pakistan scripted history in 2000, when they lifted their first ever title by beating Island nation in Bangladesh. Sri Lanka, however, then came back strong and won the titles in next two editions, in 2004 and 2008 respectively. 

After failing to win the title for four editions, Indian managed staked their claim yet against in 2010 as they defeated Sri Lanka at their home in final. Pakistan and Sri Lanka then won the tournament in next two editions respectively in 2012 and 2014. 

In 2016, Asia Cup was organised in T20 format, saw India turn victorious to clinch yet another title. The Asian heavyweights defeated Bangladesh in the final to claim their 6th title. The Rohit Sharma-led side then retained their title after they yet again pounded Bangladesh in the final to win their seventh title in 2018.
