AUS Playing XI – Australia will kickstart their campaign in the ODI World Cup 2023 as they face the home side India in their first game. The match will be played on Sunday, 8th October at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
Australia failed to reach the final during the previous edition of the ODI World Cup 2019 and they will be eager to make amendments this time around. The five-time champions have already gotten accustomed to the Indian conditions with a three-match ODI series ahead of the mega event.
Australia recently lost the ODI series 2-3 against South Africa followed by a 1-2 defeat against India. However, they played their full-strength playing XI in the final ODI match against India and they won that game by 66 runs.
The Aussies are playing an attacking brand of cricket and they are one of the pre-tournament favourites to reach the semifinals at least. Meanwhile, the Kangaroos will be eager to add another World Cup to their glittering tally of five ODI World Cups.
Pat Cummins (C), Steve Smith, Cameron Green, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Alex Carey, Josh Inglis, Sean Abbott, Marnus Labuschagne, Mitch Marsh, Adam Zampa, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, David Warner, and Mitchell Starc
