Australia Playing 11 for AUS vs WI: In a massive breaking news development, hosts Australia have announced their playing XI for the upcoming first Test match against West Indies scheduled to begin from 30 November, 2022 (Wednesday) at the Optus Stadium in Perth. Australia will now play hosts to West Indies for a short two-match Test series in Perth and Adelaide respectively. Australia are currently placed at the top position on the points table in the ongoing ICC World Test Championship standings.
On the eve of the opening Test match against West Indies, Aussie captain Pat Cummins named the official playing 11 and there were no major surprises. On very much expected lines, the hosts have left out right-arm pacer Scott Boland and instead gone ahead with the trio of Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins as the frontline pace bowlers alongside a seam-bowling all-rounder in Cameron Green. With the pair of David Warner and Usman Khawaja performed sensationally well in the recent few months across different conditions, there is no place for Marcus Harris in the side.
“You probably could have picked it 12 months ago. Everyone has done well to get them fit and firing for this series and we’re in a really good place. Easy decision,” said Australian captain Pat Cummins.
1. David Warner 2. Usman Khawaja 3. Marnus Labuschagne 4. Steve Smith 5. Travis Head 6. Cameron Green 7. Alex Carey (wk) 8. Pat Cummins (C) 9. Mitchell Starc 10. Nathan Lyon 11. Josh Hazlewood
