Mohammed Shami BAN vs IND: In a massive breaking news development, India’s senior pace bowler Mohammed Shami is a doubtful starter in the upcoming three-match ODI series against Bangladesh. The India vs Bangladesh 1st ODI encounter is scheduled to take place at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka on 4 December, 2022. Both these teams will be focussing on their best possible playing combination for next year’s ODI World Cup.
According to a senior BCCI source, right-arm speedster Mohammed Shami will not be available for selection during the upcoming Bangladesh vs India three-match ODI series starting from Sunday as he has sustained a hand injury. Shami suffered the injury after having resumed his training post the 2022 T20 World Cup campaign. Incidentally, the senior pacer has not travelled to Bangladesh with the rest of the Indian contingent and has been asked to report at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.
The BCCI is yet to make any official announcement regarding Mohammed Shami’s injury and with pacers like Deepak Chahar, Mohammed Siraj, Shardul Thakur and Kuldeep Sen already part of the ODI squad, India is unlikely to name a replacement atleast for the three ODI games against Bangladesh. However, it remains to be seen whether Shami will be available for the two-match Test series in Bangladesh or not as the first Test will begin from 14 December, 2022.
“Mohammed Shami has suffered a hand injury that he sustained after resuming training post T20 World Cup in Australia. He has been asked to report at the NCA and has not travelled with the team on December 1,” a senior BCCI source privy to development told PTI on conditions of anonymity.
