Defending champions Bangladesh are set to face cricket giants India in the highly anticipated ACC U19 Asia Cup 2024 Final at the iconic Dubai International Cricket Stadium on 8 December 2024 at 10:30 AM IST.
Bangladesh enters this final as the defending champions, having secured their maiden ACC U19 Asia Cup in 2023 by defeating the United Arab Emirates by a massive 195-run margin in the final. The Tigers have a resilient side led by Md Azizul Hakim Tamin, and they are looking to build on their recent success.
Bangladesh has demonstrated consistency throughout the tournament. They began their ACC U19 Asia Cup campaign with a 45-run win over Afghanistan and later triumphed by five wickets against Nepal. However, they faced their first loss in the group stage against Sri Lanka by just seven runs. Despite this, their overall performance secured their place in the semi-finals.
In their semi-final clash against Pakistan, Bangladesh showed their class and determination. After opting to bowl first, they bowled Pakistan out for just 116 runs in 37 overs. A superb four-wicket performance from Iqbal Hossain Emon was pivotal. Bangladesh then chased the target with ease, led by a blistering 61 off 42 balls by captain Md Azizul Hakim Tamin, sending them to their second consecutive ACC U19 Asia Cup final.
India, on the other hand, is the most successful team in ACC U19 Asia Cup history, boasting eight titles and an impeccable record. India has never lost a U19 Asia Cup final since the tournament’s inception in 1989. This history adds an extra layer of intensity to Sunday’s final, as Bangladesh hopes to prove their mettle against the cricketing powerhouse.
India has proven their strength throughout the tournament. After a tough opening defeat to Pakistan, they bounced back emphatically, securing wins against Japan and the United Arab Emirates to finish second in the Group A standings. Their semi-final clash with Sri Lanka proved their dominance as they secured a seven-wicket victory in a dominant performance.
India bowled Sri Lanka out for 173 in 46.2 overs, with key performances from Chetan Sharma (three wickets) and Ayush Mhatre, who bagged two vital scalps. The Indian batting lineup displayed aggression with a stunning performance from opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who smashed 67 runs off 36 balls.
