PCB seeks US$70 million compensation from BCCI

The case

One of the most anticipated clashes in cricket, India vs Pakistan for the Asia Cup 2018 is going to take place on Wednesday. Unfortunately, this isn’t the only clash between the two nations. It looks like The BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) is going to war off the field with the PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board)

This is because of the long absence of any bilateral cricket between the two nations. The war started when the PCB blamed the BCCI last year for not participating and even filed an official complaint to the ICC (International Cricket Council). By taking this step the PCB sought damage compensation from the BCCI for around US$70 million.

The hearing

The hearing has been reported to be held somewhere between October 1-3 in Dubai. The ICC will have the dispute panel overlooking the matter. It is chaired by an English Barrister by the name of The Honourable Michael Beloff QC. He is also a member of the Blackstone chambers.

The Indian law firm Cyril Amarchand, that already works with the BCCI will be assisting them in Dubai. The case will be heard in the UAE and under English Laws. This had made it important for both parties to seek legal advice from legal experts based in the United Kingdom.

The last time India faced Pakistan in a Test match was in 2007, eleven years ago. India played a One-day match with Pakistan, five years ago in 2013. The lack of any bilateral cricket between the two countries is what prompted the PCB to file a complaint.
