The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has set another example of why it is called the richest cricket board in the world. The BCCI has announced a record-breaking cash prize of INR 131 crore for Team India after their historic T20 World Cup 2026 triumph, making it the biggest reward in Indian cricket history. The 15-member squad will receive nearly INR 6 crore each.
Check out the breakdown of the prize announced by the BCCI after Team India’s historic triumph.
BCCI’s bonus of INR 131 crore was exclusively for Team India and its support staff. Besides BCCI, the ICC also announced prize money for the winners and the runners-up. Champions Team India received USD 2.34 million (around ₹21.5 crore), whereas the runners-up New Zealand were given USD 1.17 million (around ₹10.75 crore), which is exactly half of the prize money the winning team got. Here’s the full breakdown of how much the participating teams earned in the T20 World Cup 2026.
As India lifts their record third T20 World Cup, the prize money awarded by BCCI has motivated players to do well in the upcoming ICC events as well and bring several ICC trophies home. Team India’s next mission should be the elusive 2027 ODI World Cup, slated to take place in October-November in South Africa. 14 teams will be competing to get their hands on the prestigious title. The ODI World Cup still remains the ultimate prize in cricket history.
