Blow to ENG: Injury rules out Georgia Elwiss from remaining IND series

England women’s team has received yet another blow in the ongoing series against India as batter Georgia Elwiss has been ruled out of the remaining series due to a stress fracture of the lower back. The right-hand batter missed the first T20I and will be heading back to England for further treatment. The England team management hasn’t confirmed any replacement for her yet.

 

Georgia Elwiss out with back injury

England Cricket Board’s official twitter account announced that the middle-order batter has suffered an injury and the scans have revealed that she has a a stress fracture of the lower back.

ECB also noted that Elwiss will return to home to begin rehabilitation which means that she won’t be participating in the remaining series.

Elwiss has featured in 13 T20Is so far and has scored 24 runs and has claimed eight wickets as well. She has also played 36 ODIs and has 388 runs at an average of 20.42. She also has 26 wickets to her name in ODI cricket.

The England cricketer was part of the visitor’s ODI squad and had claimed four wickets in the three games against India.

 

England’s injury woes continue

The visitors have been plagued by injuries in this tour. England lost the spin bowling duo of Laura Marsh and Sophie Ecclestone due to injuries earlier and now the injury of Elwiss has considerably weakened the England team.

 

England’s squad for the T20I series against INDIA

England have already lost the ODI series against India but have won the first T20I. The second T20I of the series will be played on 07th March while the last T20I will be played on 09th March.
