Cameron Green Injury: The visiting Australian team are scheduled to play as many as four crucial Test matches in India starting with the opening game beginning from 9 February, 2023 at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur. Incidentally, Australia have lost all the last 3 editions of the Border Gavaskar Trophy out of which two of those took place on their home soil. However, the visitors have a few injury concerns ahead of the first Test against India as their premier all-rounder Cameron Green seems to be a doubtful starter.

Cameron Green Injury update

Cameron Green, the all-rounder from Australia, has been facing injury issues and there’s only an “outside chance” of him playing in the first Test against India, according to the coach Andrew McDonald. The talented player sustained a fracture in his finger during a match against South Africa in Perth, which forced him to miss the final Test of that tour. The injury occurred when a delivery from Anrich Nortje struck Green’s finger. Despite the setback, Green was still named in Australia’s squad for the four-Test series starting on Thursday in Nagpur, with the hope that he would be able to recover in time for the series. Green’s absence from the team due to injury has been a disappointment for fans and the coaching staff, but they remain optimistic about his recovery and his chances of playing in the Test match.

“We’ve got a fair bit to work through before the first Test match, but we haven’t put a clear line through him or… put him on the team sheet yet,” McDonald told reporters in Bangalore after a morning training session.

“He’s made some significant steps forward in the last couple of days, probably to my surprise. So there’s still an outside chance that everything going well he might be on the team sheet,” he added.

In case, Cameron Green fails to attain complete fitness before the first Test match against India, Australia are very much likely to play Matthew Renshaw or Peter Handscomb lower down the order as a specialist batsman.
