Match no 67 of Tata IPL 2023 played between Delhi Capitals and Chennai Super Kings has been won by MS Dhoni’s CSK quite comfortably by 77 runs. With this win, CSK has cemented their place at the second spot on the points table and will most probably play Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 1.
CSK’s openers Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad were all over the Delhi bowlers after MS Dhoni won the toss and opted to bat first. Gaikwad and Conway scored a magnificent 79 and 87 respectively to help CSK put on a mammoth 223 for the loss of 3 wickets in 20 overs. Gaikwad’s 3rd fifty of the season comprised 3 fours and 7 massive sixes which also help him claim the Man of the Match award.
Delhi was under the pump in the chase right before their home crowd. No one apart from skipper David Warner got going for Capitals as they lost as many as 3 wickets for a mere 26 runs inside 5 overs. Prithvi Shaw, Rilee Rossouw, and Philip Salt were the victims and Yash Dhull soon joined the queue. Skipper Warner, on the other hand, was holding the fort at one end and scored a brilliant 86 off 57 including 7 fours and 5 sixes. Warner’s lone battle with the bat was ended in the 19th over and after one more over Delhi Capitals were restricted to 146/9 in the penultimate 20 overs.
With a dominating win over Delhi Capitals in match no 67 of Tata IPL 2023, CSK have now qualified for the playoffs and currently grab the second place on the points table. CSK now have 17 points to their name from 14 matches with 8 wins, 5 losses, and a no-result game.
