Two teams who haven’t tasted success yet in Tata IPL 2023 are squaring off against each other in match no 16. Delhi Capitals are hosting the 5-time champions Mumbai Indians at their home and both teams are eager for a win. Ahead of this crucial game, Delhi Capitals have made quite a few changes to their eleven, including SA’s star batter Rilee Rossouw who has been replaced by Bangladesh’s Mustafizur Rahman.
In what comes up a huge surprise, South Africa’s middle order batter Rilee Rossouw has been dropped from this game. The Delhi team management opted for a left-arm seamer in the form of Bangladesh’s veteran Mustafizur Rahman. The change is a tactical one depending on the surface as there is some green tinch on the wicket. Also, with Khaleel Ahmed unavailable for this game due to hamstring, Mustafizur Rahman was almost a like-to-like replacement for DC. Here’s what Warner said at the toss,
“We would have done the same thing. For me it is about finding rhythm and as a whole group we gotta work harder and get sharper. We got a forced change, Khaleel Ahmed is injured and we got Yash Dhull in place of him. Also, Rilee Rossouw makes way for Mustafizur Rahman. All the boys are up and about, we gotta adapt to the situations and pumped to be playing in front of the home crowd.”

Rilee Rossouw returned to the IPL after quite a while. He went unsold in the first-round IPL 2023 auctions as teams found his base price high. Rilee’s base price was INR 2 Crore, and he was bought by DC for INR 4.6 Crore in the second-round auction.
