Former Indian World Cup winner Yuvraj Singh recently gave away a statement about his playing time under various captains of the Men in Blue. The left-handed batsman is considered as one of the modern day greats in Indian cricket and has had crucial roles to play in the big events such as the ICC World T20 of 2007, as well as the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011.

Yuvraj Singh first appeared for Team India when he was 19 in the year 2000 under the captaincy reign of Sourav Ganguly. It was then Rahul Dravid who came in next as the skipper, which was later followed by MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli. The world knows Yuvraj’s best performances came under Dhoni’s leadership, however, the Punjab born batsman surprisingly said that he got little support from MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli.

As per recent reports, Yuvraj Singh suggested Sourav Ganguly as the captain under whom he had more memories in the sport.

Yuvri grateful for Dada’s show of faith

” I have played under Sourav (Ganguly)and had a lot of support from him. Then Mahi (MS Dhoi) took under. It’s difficult choice to make between Sourav and Mahi. I have more memories of time under Sourav because of the support he gave me. I didn’t have the kind of support from Mahi and Virat (Kohli),” Yuvraj Singh was quoted saying.

Under Virat Kohli‘s captaincy, Yuvraj Singh was brought back into the team in 2017, where he played his best knock with the bat against England in a bilateral series where he scored a scintillating 150. He was also member of the ICC Champions Trophy 2017, but the southpaw wasn’t able to stamp his authority with the bat in the tournament. The specialist middle order batsman was then left out of the squad for the West Indies tour till a point that he was never called again.

Yuvraj Singh ultimately announced his retirement from the game after failing to make the cut in the ICC Cricket World Cup Squad of 2019. The player of the tournament in the 2011 World Cup had featured in 305 ODIs and score 8701 runs with an average of 36.5 for Team India.
