England is all set to host the reigning T20 World Champions, Team India, in a 5-match series kicking off July 1st. The first of the five games will be played at the Riverside Ground in Chester-le-Street, followed by fixtures in Manchester, Nottingham, Bristol, and Southampton.
Both teams are looking forward to this series, as they will lock horns for the first time in this format since the famous T20 World Cup 2026 semifinal, where India went past England by just 7 runs. England has been playing T20Is since that semifinal, whereas Team India heads into this game on the back of a humiliating defeat to Ireland. The Irish team etched their names into history books by clean-sweeping a test-playing nation for the first time in their cricketing history.
After a depressing showing against Ireland, this series is of vital stature for the new skipper Shreyas Iyer and his men. England is a formidable opponent, and they are former 2-time T20 World Cup winners. Playing England at their home is always a tricky task for the visiting side, but Team India will have to kill their demons to get the better of the English side in this series. As the two teams prep up for the first T20I at Chester-le-Street, let’s take a look at what could be the best possible XI for the two teams.
